Fewer than 10% of African startups that raise a seed round go on to raise a Series A. Using our five-year-old funding tracker, we tracked 105 startups from the 2022 seed cohort and found only 10 had raised the next round.
In 2022, startups that raised a Series A did so in just 18 months from seed. By 2025, that gap had stretched to 29 months.
