State of Climate Politics Forum 2026
The third annual State of Climate Politics Forum returns as a flagship event of London Climate Action Week. Hosted by international climate change think tank E3G at one of London's landmark venues, the forum convenes prominent political leaders, policymakers, climate leaders, practitioners and experts for a high-level morning briefing on the State of Climate Politics.
Speakers this year include
Ana Toni, CEO, COP30, Brazil; Surangel S. Whipps Jr., President of Palau; Teresa Ribera, EVP for a Clean, Just and Competitive Transition, European Commission; ministers and representatives from Indonesia, Pakistan, South Africa, Nigeria, Youth Champions from COP30 and COP31, and leaders from Electrify Britain, Global Energy Alliance, the Institute for Strategic Dialogue/Center for Climate and Security, and the Mayor of Columbia, Missouri, US.
Context
Set at the midpoint of 2026, the State of Climate Politics Forum is a pivotal platform for assessing the political, economic, financial and security dynamics shaping the climate agenda. With LCAW falling between the Bonn negotiating session and COP31, the forum offers a timely convening moment to take stock of progress and prospects, and to bring together the leading voices needed to craft the politics and geopolitics for climate safety in an increasingly complex world.
The forum brings together a global mix of voices, with discussions structured around three panels and keynote interventions. This session will be pragmatic and solutions-focused, prioritising resilience and opportunity over performative optimism.
Join us as we explore:
Whether cooperation is still viable in a ruptured world
How climate is being integrated across foreign policy, development, security and economic priorities
The role of subnational leadership in scaling international cooperation
Reframing climate action in the face of divided politics and declining trust in institutions
Pathfinding climate action for the second half of the decade
Stay on for lunch in a London landmark
Enjoy time in the company of a global community as you reflect on a State of Climate Politics update.
