About Event

Bima Sugam is the most significant infrastructure change the Indian insurance industry has seen since IRDAI was formed. Every insurer and every policy type on a single platform. The regulation is clear. Non-compliance is not an option.

The question your leadership will ask is not whether your team knows about Bima Sugam. They will ask whether you are ready for it. This session is designed to help you answer that with confidence.

In 30 to 45 minutes, we will walk through the four areas that determine whether your integration delivers on go-live day:

  • Customer data clean-up. Are your source systems clean enough for Pehchan ID mapping to work?

  • Bank partner readiness. Your go-live date is decided by your slowest partner. Do you know who that is?

  • BSIF sign-off. What is your plan when the first attempt fails?

  • Architecture decisions being made right now. The build choices your team makes today will define what Bima Sugam costs you to run in year two.

After the talk, we open the floor for questions. We will also be collecting questions from registered attendees ahead of the session and will address them directly during the call. Every registered attendee will receive a post-session checklist they can use in their team meetings right away.

Who should attend

CTOs, Heads of Digital, and VP-level technology and product leaders at life, health, and general insurance companies currently navigating the Bima Sugam rollout.

About the hosts

Wednesday is the product engineering firm behind more than 10% of India's unicorns. Enterprises across the BFSI sector — including some of India's largest insurers, brokerages, and payment platforms — work with Wednesday to digitally transform their core systems and build differentiated product experiences for their customers. Wednesday's team has studied the Bima Sugam strategy proposal and IRDAI documentation in depth, and this session is built directly from that work.

Praveen Kumar D is a technical leader who has designed and architected software systems for leading institutions across consumer tech, insurance tech, payments, and loyalty. His work in the insurance space spans core digital transformation — partner onboarding, policy issuance, and policy servicing — for some of India's key insurers. He approaches technology as a tool for business scale, quality, and customer experience, not as an end in itself.

Mac (Mohammed Ali Chherawalla) is the co-founder and CTO of Wednesday. He has spent over a decade building digital systems — from unicorn-stage companies to large enterprises — at billion-user scale. He is an active open source contributor and has led engineering teams across some of the most complex product challenges in the Indian startup and enterprise ecosystem.
