About Event

Have you been looking for new composition techniques? Are you interested in discarded technologies? Come learn the ancient art of the tape loop!

After a quick primer on magnetic tape, mixers, and 4-track recording, we'll open up cassettes, slice up tape, and build loops. Every attendee leaves with their own, hand-made cassette loop. No experience required.

This is for:

* Anyone (not just musicians) who is curious about incorporating analog tape equipment into their adventures in audio

* Anyone interested in analog electronics and music technology

* Musicians looking to experiment with strange, non-linear processing, recording, and composition techniques

No equipment is needed but feel free to bring a cassette (blank or not) with screws so we can open it up and close it again.

New York native Nat Homer is an experimental electronic musician focusing on analog feedback systems and composition tools. Ambient, drone, noise, minimalism, psychedelia, and rock. 15+ years of recording and performing and composition experience.

Synth Library NYC is a nonprofit lending library expanding access to synthesizers and electronic instruments. We offer free membership, allowing people to borrow gear to take home, plus workshops and community building activities. Our mission is to remove barriers to music tech and bring new, diverse voices into the synth community.
