Before You Apply: UK Visa Routes for Founders
Which route actually fits you, what gets endorsed, and what it costs to get it wrong.
Moving your company to a new country is full of uncertainty. Which visa is suitable for you. What ‘exceptional talent’ means in practice. How long does visa endorsement really take. What a rejection costs you in time and money.
We have been through it ourselves, and these are the questions we hear often at Oasis. So we are starting the Oasis Soft Landing Series - free online sessions for founders on their way to the UK- before you get here.
What we will cover
Global Talent, Innovator Founder and other routes - which fits which founder
What endorsing bodies actually look for
Real timelines and costs
The mistakes that cost founders months
Your questions, answered live
Speakers
Speaker: Nelli Shevchenko, Head of the UK Immigration Department at Sherrards - on the routes that matter most to founders and scaling tech businesses, from Global Talent to Skilled Worker and Global Business Mobility. Nelli can take questions across the entire journey, from the first visa through to Indefinite Leave to Remain and British nationality.
Moderator: Lyubov Guk, Co-founder, Oasis and Blue Lake VC - an investor's perspective on founders' visas, and her own experience of going through the Global Talent route and ILR.
Format
60 minutes. No panels, just practitioners sharing practical insights. 25 minutes of talk, 30 minutes of Q&A, and 5 minutes at the end on what Oasis is and what support you can get. We will share the recording only with registrants.
Who it is for
Early-stage founders outside the UK, seriously thinking about moving here in the next six to twelve months. Free, approval required - we keep the room small so the Q&A is useful and the people start building meaningful connections long before they land here.
About Soft Landing
Monthly, free, online. Most support for international founders in the UK starts once you have landed. We would rather be useful earlier so you have a solid foundation for when you are ready to relocate.
Next Soft Landing events to keep an eye on: October - Fundraising in the UK. November - Legal, SEIS and EIS.
About Oasis
A global community in the heart of London, built for international founders to connect, collaborate and grow. An initiative by Blue Lake VC - the place where founders meet opportunity.
