Polycomputation, Cartesian Dualism, Bio-Robots & Embodiment | Prof. Josh Bongard | Computational Philosophy Group @ MIT
WHAT ⭐️:
• Speaker: Professor Josh Bongard @ University of Vermont (Follow Prof. Bongard on X)
• Josh will discuss their lab’s work on:
Polycomputation: using vibration as the medium of computation to achieve multiple computations in the same place at the same time, without recourse to quantum effects.
Building polycomputational robots which heal the Cartesian divide by conflating action (vibrations cause motility) and thought (vibrations embody computation).
How embodied AI could be about so much more than dropping foundation models into robot bodies.
• Hosted by Addy (Founder @ Ekkolapto.org, O'Shaughnessy Ventures 2025 Grantee).
• Previous hackathons, salons, podcasts, and dinners at MIT, UT Austin, FAU, Harvard, Augmentation Lab, Frontier Tower in SF, DC/Maryland, NYC, University of Toronto, University of Waterloo.
• Sponsored by Ekkolápto Research and the Computational Philosophy Research Group at MIT.
• Food and beverages provided for the weekend!
