Commemorating the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-based Violence: Violence, Disability and Women’s Rights in Nigeria
The global 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence (November 25 – December 10) provides a critical platform to amplify advocacy against all forms of violence affecting women and girls. In Nigeria, women with disabilities remain among the most marginalized, often facing intersecting forms of violence, discrimination, and exclusion. They encounter significant barriers to accessing justice, sexual and reproductive health services, education, employment, and political participation. Despite progressive frameworks—such as the Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Act (VAPP), the Disability Act 2019, and international standards like CEDAW and the UNCRPD— implementation gaps persist. This webinar aims to create a space for dialogue, knowledge-sharing, and strategic collaboration to advance the rights, dignity, and safety of women with disabilities in Nigeria.
