About Event

Join Clio and VanRuby for an evening panel on modernizing large legacy Rails codebases without breaking what already works. Panelists Salman Taghiakbari and Kevin Edelmann sit down with moderators Weston Triemstra and Michael Lee to talk through integrating Hotwire, Turbo, and Propshaft into production systems at scale, balancing bleeding-edge adoption with legal-grade reliability, and how AI-assisted workflows are changing the way Rails teams refactor and grow.

Grab food and drinks, mingle with fellow Ruby/Rails developers, and stick around after the panel for more conversation.

Speakers

Salman Taghiakbari is a Development Manager at Clio, where he helped take the product into Asia Pacific and now works on the documents side of the app. He's been writing and shipping software for nineteen years, the last eight leading teams, in companies as small as two-person startups to companies of thousands. What keeps him going is building quality products that end up in customers' hands, done properly.

Kevin Edelmann, after nearly ten years and almost a half-dozen software engineering roles, has built a lot of experience arguing with himself, others, and most recently Claude, about what makes good and maintainable code. He frequently borrows concepts from multiple programming languages, paradigms, and philosophies while whiteboarding ideas together in order to meet a high bar of quality without sacrificing on timelines.
