Rethinking Financial Instruments for Inclusive Development | DPW 2026 Virtual Session
About Dasra Philanthropy Week 2026, Mumbai:
As India advances toward its Viksit Bharat 2047 vision, progress will be shaped by how deeply the country listens to its communities and how intentionally philanthropy amplifies them. India for the World, World for India reflects this belief: that solutions grounded in lived experience and civil society leadership can accelerate India’s development and inspire beyond its borders. Dasra Philanthropy Week builds on this momentum by convening changemakers to elevate community insights, address systemic barriers, and drive collective action toward a more inclusive and future-ready India.
About The Session
Credit has long been the default tool for addressing capital gaps in low-income communities. But in a context of volatility and overlapping shocks, debt alone cannot meet the realities people face. This session, in partnership with Project Deep, invites CSOs, funders and practitioners to rethink the design of financial instruments from unconditional cash support to returnable grants and other flexible forms of capital, and examine how choices around risk, accountability, and flexibility shape community outcomes. What would it take to move beyond a credit-first approach toward more inclusive, responsive development finance?
