AI safety and AI ethics get treated as separate conversations. They are not. The same conditions that produce everyday harm, opaque systems, concentrated control, and deployment moving faster than governance, are the conditions that make catastrophic risk possible. Ronda Železný-Green connects AI ethics, AI security, and existential risk into one picture, and makes the case that the people closest to the harm belong in the rooms where safety gets decided.

​About the Speaker:
Ronda Železný-Green, PhD, is founder and CEO of datocracy, a capacity-building movement working to put decisions about data and AI in the hands of the many rather than the few. datocracy equips governments, social impact organizations, small businesses, and individuals across the Global Majority with the skills and judgment to question, govern, and refuse AI systems rather than simply absorb them. Of Lumbee Indian heritage, Ronda has spent more than 20 years at the intersection of technology, governance, and capacity building, and has delivered data and AI training to government stakeholders in Ghana, India, Malawi, Nigeria, and Senegal. She recently facilitated an AI literacy workshop for the AUNTIE Tech Collective. She holds a PhD in human geography focused on technology and education.
