EarthLab Climate Action Park - Day in the Garden

​EarthLab Climate Action Park is a 4-acre nature space used daily by elementary, middle, and high school students in Southeastern San Diego to learn about the environment and have a safe, inspiring place to complete climate action educational hands-on experiences.

​EarthLab hosts activities the first Saturday each month for the community to learn about the environment and build community. With few nature spaces available for students to explore in this southeastern area of San Diego, EarthLab provides an opportunity to learn about climate science, and feel comfortable in nature.

​On October 4th, volunteers will assist with a community pumpkin carving activity(first time for many students), collect pumpkin seeds for cooking, and compost cuttings. Then the group will move to the orchard to pick fruit with the families and do any hydroponic farm tasks. Lastly, the group will and learn how to care for native and waterwise plants with hands-on trimming activities to help keep the park an inviting learning space for students and the community.

​Note: There are steep asphalt walkways, uneven surfaces, and areas and inclines with mulch, rock and sand. For those with certain mobility disabilities, this activity will have some challenges to access.

​Public transportation: Trolley stop on Euclid Ave (0.8 miles away) and bus stops are on Euclid and 47th St (0.5 miles away).
