What is Juneteenth?
Juneteenth celebrations started in the USA but have expanded geographically with the movement of Black Americans to other countries. Celebrations abroad use the day to recognize freedom, liberation, and to celebrate the culture, achievements, and unity of the African diaspora.
As the population of Black Americans grows in Barcelona, celebrating Juneteenth provides a new opportunity for the community to ground itself, increase its visibility, and become better connected and integrated within Barcelona’s African diaspora and the city as a whole.
Who is organizing?
We are a passionate team of volunteers who are local business owners, lawyers, tech workers, event planners, and more. We are dedicated to creating an annual, unforgettable experience for the local community. Our mission is to deliver events that inspire and connect the diaspora and embed a feeling of belonging.
