2026 Run Club @ Houston Energy & Climate Week
Let’s go and let’s grow! Climatetech builders here in Houston, and the backers who show up for them, join us for a social run, walk, amble, or stroll around beautiful Rice University during Houston Energy & Climate Week 2026.
Meet us by the Rice University main entrance at Main Street & Sunset Boulevard. Under the canopy of live oaks, we'll make our way around the 5k Rice Outer Loop, a flat trail with water fountains and bathrooms along the way. As we swing by Rice Village, feel free to peel off for breakfast or coffee.
It takes a strong community to tackle the climate challenge, so we'll share, hear, and cultivate ideas for building the energy transition while we move our bodies. It also takes grit: we'll start promptly at 6:30 AM to make sure everyone has time to get ready for the rest of the week's events.
Rice gives Houston Energy & Climate Week more than a beautiful 5k loop. It's a community of builders and backers in its own right:
Rice is home to the Rice Sustainability Institute, which houses several energy transition centers, including the Rice Carbon Hub.
Modern carbon nanotechnology, which plays an outsized role in decarbonizing many of today's most challenging industries, began, and continues, at Rice.
Rice's Baker Institute Center for Energy Studies is one of the preeminent policy think tanks for energy abundance, energy transition, and the energy-materials nexus.
JFK gave his famous Moonshot speech at historic Rice Stadium, and it continues to inspire climatetech moonshots today, from Rice spinouts like DexMat, Syzygy Plasmonics, Solidec, Helix Earth, and HEXAspec, to the builders and backers still being made there.
Whether you're building hydrogen, carbon, hydrocarbons, or something else entirely, or you're backing the people who are, this run/walk is for you. If your passion is solving the existential crisis of our time, join your people, builders and backers alike, this morning, and for good.
