​The April Session – Open Play + Beginner Track

​The April Session marks the beginning of our recurring monthly mahjong gatherings. Structured social play with flexibility built in — designed for connection, not competition.

​Your registration reserves your seat for the full April Session: April 7, April 14, April 21, and April 28.

​There are three registration options: please read about each and choose your selection.

• ​Hinsdale Mahjong Society Foundations (101) + April Session

  • ​Designed for players who are brand new or still building confidence.

  • ​Includes:

    • ​Guided 101 instruction during the first session

    • ​Continued access to the remaining April Open Play sessions

    • ​Ongoing support as you integrate into regular play

    • ​This option allows you to learn, then immediately continue building skill and comfort within a supportive table environment.

    • ​Beginner seats are intentionally limited and you must attend on April 7 to be in this track. This is the only session that is mandatory.

• ​Open Play Series

  • ​For returning players or those comfortable referencing the card during play.

    • ​Includes:

      • ​Reserved seat for all four April sessions

      • ​Thoughtfully matched table placement based on play comfort level

      • ​Structured, social play without competitive pressure

    • ​Consistent attendance enhances the experience, but flexibility is built in.

• ​Full Table Registration (4 Players)

  • ​Register as a complete table of four and play together throughout the April Session.

    • ​Perfect for friend groups who:

      • ​Prefer to learn and grow together

      • ​Share a similar play level

      • ​Want a consistent social rhythm

    • ​Please ensure all players at your table reflect a similar comfort level for the best experience.

• ​Alternate Player List

  • ​Can't commit to these dates at this point? Sign up to be an alternate in the event a session player can't make it.

​During registration, you’ll select your current play comfort level. Tables will be thoughtfully seated to ensure a cohesive and enjoyable experience for all players.

​As part of our April Session, each registered player will receive a complimentary HMS Founding Member line finder to mark the beginning of our first Session.

​Players of all levels need to bring with or purchase a 2025 National Mah Jongg League card. If you do not yet have a card, you may purchase one while registering Hinsdale Mahjong Society or buy one directly from the National Mah Jongg Society.

​Your registration reserves your seat for the full April Session: April 7, April 14, April 21, and April 28.

​​If life happens (which it does and is understandable!), please provide notice so we may offer your evening seat to someone on the alternate player list. It is okay to miss a session; there is no penalty — this is not that type of group.

​​In the event you need to miss a session, and have given 7 days notice, you are are eligible to receive one make-up credit for a missed week per league session at a future open play (space permitting).
