Energy Auditing 101

​This practical session will introduce participants to the fundamentals of energy auditing, including what an energy audit is, why it matters, how to conduct one, what information and measurements to collect, and how to identify opportunities to reduce energy consumption, costs, and environmental impact.

​Participants will learn the basic process of conducting an energy audit—from pre-audit preparation and data collection to site inspection, analysis, and development of energy-efficiency recommendations.

​Importantly, this session is the preparation for a practical energy audit of a school. Participants will apply the knowledge gained during the training during the subsequent field audit, where they will assess real energy-use patterns and identify opportunities for improvement.

​The findings from the school audit will provide the foundation for developing a School Energy Transformation Plan, exploring practical interventions such as energy efficiency, improved energy management, efficient lighting and cooling, renewable energy, and other appropriate solutions.
