Making rural value-based care pencil: a Hopscotch Primary Care company presentation with Tim Gronniger and Aditi Mallick, M.D.

​Rural health is a conspicuously hard business: thin population density, long travel distances, a difficult labor market, high chronic disease burden, and hospitals closing left and right. And yet the last few weeks have produced an unusual cluster of signals — Hopscotch Primary Care raising a $53 million Series D, Main Street Health topping Inc.'s fastest-growing companies list, and Cityblock's acquisition of Homeward.

​Hopscotch Primary Care takes an employed clinician approach, distinct from platform approaches which have been popular in the VBC world as of late. The new round was led by 8VC and Town Hall Ventures, with existing investors including aMoon, Citi Impact Fund, Alumni Ventures, and K2 HealthVentures, and new participation from the Autism Impact Fund, John Doerr, Dr. Richard Merkin of Heritage Provider Network, and the Leon Levine Foundation.
