WIE Speaker Series with Chris Johnson

​Chris Johnson currently serves as the CEO and CPE (Chief Popcorn Eater) of Tivoli Enterprises, Inc, which operates Classic Cinemas, Tivoli Bowl, Tivoli Hotel, and manages a myriad of real estate holdings. Classic Cinemas was founded in 1978 by the Johnson family and is the largest Illinois-based theatre chain. Under Chris’s leadership, the company has navigated historic cinema revitalizations, technology transitions, and the COVID-19 pandemic to ensure that each guest visit offers an exceptional cinematic experience.

​In addition to his commitment to Classic Cinemas, Chris is heavily involved in Cinema United and currently serves on the  Executive Board, Advisory Board, Technology Committee, and a host of other committees to continue to advocate for cinemas. He is currently the President of NATO of Illinois, on the Board of Directors of NATO of Wisconsin & Upper Michigan, and was awarded the 2024 NATO Marquee Award, which recognizes outstanding leaders for their dedication and service to the exhibition industry. He is also a Regional Vice President for the EF&B Association where he earned ACS, CCM, & ECM certifications. In addition, Chris is on the Board of Directors of the Will Rogers Motion Picture Pioneers Foundation and the Downers Grove Economic Development Corporation. He remains passionate in his advocacy for cinemas on state and national levels through his involvement in these organizations.
