SKIZA 002
SKIZA 002 W/ Shaunt Raffi
For the second edition of SKIZA, we're joined by Shaunt Raffi, a Toronto-based music curator, DJ, and co-founder of Tapestry, one of Kensington Market's premier independent music venues. Shaunt is also the founder of Tapestry Jam, an acclaimed improvised music series built around anonymous collaboration that has hosted over 100 artists and welcomed more than 2,000 attendees since its inception.
For this session, Shaunt takes us on a journey through the music of the Armenian diaspora, tracing the sounds, stories, and cultural exchanges of a people whose history of displacement and survival has carried them across the globe, from Ethiopia and Japan to Lebanon, the United States, and Canada. Through carefully selected recordings and personal insight, he explores how music becomes a vessel for memory, identity, and belonging.
SKIZA is a listening series designed to deepen how we experience music. Through guided selections, storytelling, and conversation, featured speakers unpack their relationship to music, their creative process, and the cultural influences that shape their perspective. It's an invitation to slow down, listen intentionally, and discover new worlds through sound.
