Quick Plays: a 2-day Performance Workshop
Over the course of two days, we will develop performance pieces by creating monologues, poems, actions, tasks, etc., considering actor/director montage, interpretation, and nonsense. Similar to The Play Class, a devised theater project Luiza and Cassie led over the summer, we will work collaboratively with no predetermined roles — there will be many decisions to work out collectively. Time limitations will allow us to try new things without judgment or preciousness. By the end of the workshop, it’ll be up to us to decide how we will present our work, whether through a live performance or not. (Sunday, October 5 time TBD has been reserved for a potential performance at Envelope should we choose to perform!)
We will move our bodies, participate in theater exercises, write, and be vulnerable. We will use “collaged reading” to guide our thoughts, pulled and compiled from multiple sources. This class is for everybody! No previous experience is required. We are not theater professionals, though you are welcome here!
