About Event

Join us for a conversation with TechCrunch journalists Mary Ann Azevedo and Christine Hall. Covering startups and VC, they'll give us a behind the scenes look at what journalists look for, tips for pitching to press and what you need to include in a press release (hint: less than you think). Collectively, they've written about multiple K50 companies, including Osana Salud, HoneyBee, Juno, Self, June Homes, New Age Meats, and Nomad Homes.

Christine Hall writes about enterprise/B2B, e-commerce, and foodtech. She most recently reported on venture capital rounds for Crunchbase News. Based in Houston, Christine previously reported for publications including the Houston Business Journal, the Texas Medical Center's Pulse magazine, and Community Impact Newspaper. She has an undergraduate journalism degree from Murray State University and a graduate degree from The Ohio State University.

Mary Ann Azevedo has more than 20 years of business reporting and editing experience for publications such as Crunchbase News, Crain, Forbes and Silicon Valley Business Journal. Prior to joining TechCrunch in 2021 – where she covers fintech, proptech and LatAm – she earned numerous awards including the New York Times Chairman’s Award and others for breaking news coverage. She holds a Master’s degree in journalism from the University of Texas in Austin, where she currently lives.
