About Event

Editors Hanne Williams-Baron and Adrian Matias Bell are putting together a queer trans hysto zine. Why? They write:

"Queer and trans people are vastly under-represented in hysterectomy media and resources. What hysto narratives do exist are usually oriented around the experiences of older cis straight women... We crave real, grisly, nuanced stories about hysto. We want to know how you decided to have a hysto, or ended up needing one. We want to hear how you navigated the medical system, alternative care structures, your meal train. Let loose your sex, blood, guts, gas. Bring your joy and your sorrow. We want to learn exactly what it meant for you, in your body and your life, to have a hysterectomy."

For more information, check out their call for submissions to the zine.

This is the perfect opportunity for contributors to work on their writing or art for the zine! Bring your laptop/notebook/art supplies and spend some time brainstorming, drafting, or finishing your piece. The length limit for writing is 500 words. Don't overthink it! Hanne and Adrian will be happy to answer any editorial questions along the way.
