Build & Chill - Prototype next Tesla in 2 hours
Hei!
We (the Thinkin’ Rocks nerds) are inviting you to join our prototyping session!
This week, we’ll explore microcontrollers and rapid prototyping. You’ll get a chance to experiment with Raspberry Pi 5, Arduino, and ESP boards, build simple interactive projects, and learn how hardware and software work together. Whether you’re completely new to electronics or already have some experience, you’re welcome to join and build something cool.
During the session, we’ll go through a short interactive program:
Setting things up – checking if the required software is installed and installing any missing libraries.
Short introduction to microcontrollers – what they are and how they are used in prototyping.
Project 1: Make an LED blink – the classic first step to verify everything works.
Machine interaction – using serial input/output to make the microcontroller communicate with your computer.
Project 2: Gather sensor data – use the provided kits to read and process sensor values.
Free roam – experiment with your own ideas, combine sensors, lights, and boards, and prototype something fun.
We will provide hardware during the session, including:
• Raspberry Pi 5
• Arduino boards
• ESP microcontrollers
• Basic sensors and electronic components
We have things setup on our machines. If you want to use urs, prepare in advance:
• Arduino IDE (for Arduino and ESP boards)
• Python 3 (useful for Raspberry Pi and serial communication)
P.S. You’re welcome to come work on anything in our space on any day—just make sure to join the chat:
