Startup internships move fast, and getting the most out of one takes more than showing up ready to work. This session brings together a panel of former startup interns alongside founders who recruit them, for a candid conversation about what makes an internship successful from both sides of the table.

Get insights into what to look for when hiring interns beyond the resume including key success factors like sense of ownership, comfort with ambiguity, and the ability to ramp up quickly on a lean team. Bronica Sam, senior associate director, corporate relations, UW Foster MBA Career Management
Colette Vogel, senior associate director, corporate relations, UW Foster MBA Career Management
Bronica partners with employers to connect them with MBA talent at the UW Foster School of Business, with a focus on technology, financial services, and startups in those sectors. Before joining Foster, she led MBA and diversity talent acquisition programs at Microsoft, and she brings more than 20 years of experience in student admissions and recruitment. She also spearheaded the Startup Internship Program with CoMotion Labs, which connects interns with startup founders.
Colette builds relationships with employers and creates programming on resilience and professional development. She has nearly two decades of experience building organizational management capability, including as a VP at Citigroup, where she worked in leadership development and succession planning, and later as a consultant to Starbucks in organization design and development. She holds a doctorate in Adult Learning and Leadership from Columbia University, has led trainings in Singapore, and co-leads the Asia Pacific Employer Advisory Board. She is also a Forté lead and a Gallup Certified Strengths Based Coach.
