​Pizza day, 2026

​Each year, 22 May marks the anniversary of the day in 2010 when Laszlo Hanyecz paid 10,000 BTC for two pizzas in the first Bitcoin transaction. The day has become legendary and this year we will be marking the occasion in Bury St Edmunds.

​Friday 22nd May 2026 will see a day of bitcoin meet-ups in the historic town of Bury St Edmunds (resting place of England’s true patron saint) before an evening event featuring free pizza, free drink, and on stage debates from leading voices in the UK Bitcoin scene; they will be discussing the topic of ‘Bitcoin as a medium of exchange’.
