​What is the relationship between growing local and climate change? What are common myths about the cost of buying local? How is my connection to the land important for how I show up for my community? Let's get together for some real talk.
​
​As part of Montréal Climate Week, we're organizing a morning at Les Jardins Carya in Senneville called Roots and Resilience - a chance to bring together a few organizations working at the intersection of agriculture, education, and community, and to show Montrealers the pathways being built to reconnect with the land.
​Au programme : une visite des jardins et des fermes, suivie d’une table ronde sur les défis et les opportunités liés à notre relation quotidienne avec la nature et la terre.
​Living in a city like Montréal, it can be easy to forget how deeply our lives depend on the land beneath our feet. For many of us, food arrives at the grocery store long before we ever encounter the soil, plants, and people who make it possible. Reconnecting with the land and learning how to care for it is an important part of building the knowledge, relationships, and resilience we need in a changing climate.
​Join us at the Senneville farms on September 13 as we explore pathways for Montrealers to reconnect with agriculture, nature, and one another.
​Carya grows vegetables for its local community while creating opportunities for children, youth, and students to learn the practice and knowledge of market gardening.
​Sankofa Farming Cooperative is reclaiming ancestral Afro-Indigenous agricultural knowledge, stewarding land, and building food sovereignty within their communities.
​Growing A.R.C. explores the connections between fashion, nature, and agriculture through material culture and citizen science, using gardens as spaces to activate, reciprocate, and cultivate relationships with the Earth and all beings.

​BONUS! Can’t come out to the farm and looking for something to do with the kids in the city?
​Programmes Coyote, who usually runs their land-based youth program at Les Jardins Carya, will be holding three separate events in two other locations for youth to participate in activities that build connections with the flora, fauna and ecology of:
​Mont Royal (7-12 yrs old): Sunday 10am-2pm
​Parc Angrignon (7-12 yrs old): Sunday 10am-2pm
​Parc Angrignon (12-17 yrs old): Sunday 10am-2pm
​
