Climate Leadership in Every Community: A Conversation with NY's Black, Puerto Rican, Hispanic & Asian Legislative Caucus Leaders

​Climate change doesn't impact every community equally—and neither do the solutions. Across New York, legislators are advancing policies to address extreme heat, flooding, clean energy, public health, affordability, and environmental justice in ways that reflect the unique needs of their districts.

​This featured Climate Week plenary will bring together members of the New York State Black, Puerto Rican, Hispanic & Asian Legislative Caucus for a conversation on what climate leadership looks like at the community level. Moderated by Environmental Advocates NY Executive Director Vanessa Fajans-Turner, and potentially joined by Caucus Chair Assemblymember Michaelle C. Solages, the discussion will explore how legislators are responding to the climate challenges their constituents face, the opportunities and barriers they encounter in Albany, and the policies needed to build healthier, more resilient communities.

​Rather than focusing solely on statewide goals, this conversation will center the lived experiences of New Yorkers and highlight how effective climate policy can also advance affordability, public health, economic opportunity, and environmental justice. Attendees will leave with a deeper understanding of the critical role diverse community voices play in shaping New York's climate future.
