David Phillips is the Founder & CEO of Fondo (YC W18), the go-to accounting, tax, and tax-credit platform now serving 2,000+ startups. A former Deloitte accountant who taught himself to code, David previously co-founded Hackbright Academy — a coding school focused on gender equality in tech that he bootstrapped to an $18M acquisition by Capella University. Beyond building Fondo to eight-figure ARR, he's an active angel investor in 100+ companies, including Rippling, Flexport, and Liquid Death. Having raised for his own company and backed dozens of others, David brings a rare dual view of the founder and investor sides of the table.
