breathe in, breathe out...
breathe in, breathe out...
a love letter to 15 years in SF
I've bought a one-way plane ticket only twice in my life. The first time was for my flight to San Francisco, 15 years ago on September 2, 2011. The second time was for my flight to New York, which departs next month, 15 years later.
My time here has been more deeply fulfilling, challenging, joyful, nurturing, and inspiring than I could have possibly imagined when I stepped off of that plane as a newly graduated 22-year old. Along the way, I've grown and found new identities as a leader, a parent, an artist, and more.
Before I leave for New York, one of my greatest wishes is to get on a stage and perform my heart out for all of the people here who have loved me into being. A chance for me to express my gratitude, tell my story, and bring this chapter to its completion. This is that show.
As a dear friend and mentor, Anne Grete Mazziotta, once told me as I cried in her arms at the close of different chapter: "maybe you should go and cry in everybody's arms."
Love,
Mason
