Talk descriptions:
Talk #1 - SYNTH Initiative is an open science project sponsored by AI Alliance, IBM, and Pleias, dedicated to building the ultimate synthetic multilingual open data corpus for advancing frontier models and intelligent agents. We invite the global community to contribute high-quality multilingual seed datasets that can serve as the foundation for creating robust synthetic data—particularly focusing on underrepresented languages from Eastern Europe, Asia, Africa, and other regions. Beyond data creation, our mission includes establishing standards for both general-purpose and domain-specific synthetic data generation pipelines, guided by a strong commitment to responsible AI practices and robust compliance frameworks. These principles ensure that all resulting datasets are open, reusable, and free from restrictive licensing.
Talk #2 - Deep Research Agent with MCP - Deep Research architectures have become increasingly popular over the past three months as users want more complex tasks to be handled by LLMs. The LastMile AI team has gone through a journey to understand what core components are needed for a Deep Research Agent and what qualities enable it to be ready for production. We'll be sharing the core architecture for a Deep Research Agent and how these components influence the behavior of the agent.
Talk #3 - This panel brings together leading voices at the intersection of responsible innovation, AI policy and governance, and engineering for enterprise-scale AI systems with a focus on the role open source plays in building AI solutions that are ethical, compliant, and future-ready.
Speaker Bios:
Agata Ferretti, PhD is an ethicist and AI governance expert currently serving as the European Lead of the AI Alliance at IBM. She holds a PhD from ETH Zurich, where her research centered on the ethical and governance challenges of big data and digital health, particularly in biomedical research and generative AI.
Hanieh Zahiremami from Last Mile AI spearheads the development and go-to-market strategy for the mcp-agent framework, which enables developers to orchestrate AI agents using the Model Context Protocol (MCP).
Panelist Bios:
Moderator: Andrea Greggo is a business development executive from IBM focused on open source AI partnerships and leads membership for the AI Alliance.
Annabelle Blangero, PhD is the Lead of Responsible AI and a Senior Manager at Ekimetrics, based in Paris, France and is known for her work at the intersection of neuroscience, data science, and responsible AI initiatives.
Snigdha Banda is leading the forward deployed engineering team for Patronus AI, a NYC AI start-up.
