🇪🇺 Europe 2031 | What Getting AI Wrong Means for Us
Join us for a discussion evening on Europe 2031 — a five-year scenario about how AI could push Europe into economic and political irrelevance, and what could still be done about it. Written by a group of European AI researchers and policy thinkers, it’s told as a novella through two characters, and reads less like a policy paper and more like a thriller.
This is a discussion group, not a lecture. We expect everyone will get the most out of it if they read or listen to the scenario beforehand — but if you’re pressed for time, the summary below is enough to take part.
📚 How to prepare — choose one:
📖 Read the full scenario (~1 hr): europe2031.ai · also in DE
🎧 Listen to the audio, read by Tom Chivers (~2 hrs): Spotify / Apple Podcasts
⏳ No time? The site’s executive summary (~10 min), or our short 5-minute recap
🗣️ The format:
Short intro to the scenario
Small-group discussions
A big-group debrief at the end
Open-ended hangout
👤 For: anyone who cares about AI going well, and especially about Europe’s place in it. No technical background needed — just read or listen first and bring your thoughts. We expect to be capacity-constrained, this is why we added a few questions to the signup form.
🔔 Getting in: Ring the bell at PEAKS (Zeughausstrasse 31, Zürich) and wait ~30 seconds, or use the keybox if you have access. Problems? Call the number in the Event Location below. 🍿 Free snacks and drinks.
