Noghteh | 5th Meetup – Open Group Discussion
Topic: Clarity in Requests: How to Say What You Really Want
In many collaborations, the challenge isn’t just that we can’t express what we want clearly.
Sometimes we’re not even fully sure what we want, we just assume we are.
Internal ambiguity turns into external confusion. And that leads to misunderstandings, slow progress, mismatched expectations, and unnecessary friction.
In this open conversation session of Noghteh we’ll explore this space between what we think we want and what we can clearly express.
We’ll discuss topics like:
Why expressing needs can feel difficult
How unclear expectations create confusion
When we think we’re clear but actually aren’t
The role of tone, timing, and context in clarity
Why digital communication makes clarity harder
How to reduce misunderstandings and communicate respectfully and effectively
Discussion prompts:
➡️ When was the last time you thought you were clear, but the result showed otherwise?
➡️ What makes a request clear in your experience?
➡️ Why do some people hesitate to express needs directly?
➡️ Do we sometimes expect others to guess what we want?
➡️ How can we express expectations without creating tension?
➡️ What habits or practices help make requests actionable and understandable?
➡️ How can clarity be maintained in small and large teams?
➡️ How can the voices of newcomers or juniors be heard in request processes?
➡️ Can meetings, checklists, or retrospectives improve clarity?
