Why the logical next step feels like a trap
You've done everything you were supposed to do. You took the next role, pursued the promotion, followed the advice. And somehow you're still here, miserable and unsure why.
The problem might not be the decisions you've been making. It might be the framework you've been using to make them
Roberta Dombrowski and Nyam Adodoadji explore what happens when the career playbook you've been using stops working and what it looks like to make moves that are actually yours.
What we’ll cover:
Why the logical next step often keeps you stuck
How to tell the difference between a real signal and fear
What it looks like to make a career decision based on what you actually want, not what looks good on paper
About your Hosts
Roberta Dombrowski
Roberta Dombrowski is a career counselor and coach for tech professionals who refuse to shrink and want to design work that honors who they are, not just what they can do. She has over a decade of experience working at the intersection of learning, research, and organizational design. In 2023, she stepped down from her executive role to support clients who are done following the corporate script and ready to design something of their own, whether that means building a business on the side, going fully independent, or creating a portfolio of work that reflects the full range of who they are.

Nyam Adodoadji
As a somatic practitioner, poet and guide for creative leaders in transition, Nyamwathi (Nyam) Adodoadji's coaching and creative work explores themes of identity and human becoming in an era of tectonic societal shifts.
As a former tech consulting professional leading digital product delivery for past clients such as Kia, Microsoft, Visa and LGE, the pandemic forced her to confront a 14 year cycle of crushing workloads, unsupportive managers and burnout.
Discovering others that used career breaks to redirect their life trajectories, she took her own one year career break in 2022, in which she traveled to Mexico, Portugal, Ghana, Colombia and Spain. Through her sabbatical, she sifted through her pain to craft a mosaic of her life’s broken pieces and learned the power of intuition and the body’s wisdom.
She coalesced these experiences, her poetry craft and 14 years of leading ops and strategy for creative design into a life and career design coaching practice. Through her practice Nyam empowers creative, curious leaders to access their inner wisdom and somatic intelligence during life and career transitions. You can connect with her on LinkedIn and Substack.
