About Event

Helsinki Film Lab presents:

Cross-industry networking for the people building stories, worlds and IP across formats.

THEME: The New Economics of IP

Film, TV, Games & the Funding Shift

What if your next project wasn’t just a film… but a world?

What if financing didn’t start with one format, but with the potential of an IP to travel across film, TV, games, publishing and beyond?

From The Last of Us moving from game to prestige television, to Arcane expanding the world of League of Legends, to The Witcher travelling across books, games and screen, the most resilient stories today are no longer confined to one format.

But this shift is not only happening at blockbuster scale. The Pirate Queen shows how a historical female-led story can move between film, immersive media and games, while creator-led projects like Iron Lung point to a new world where audience, IP, financing and distribution can be built in radically different ways.

This evening asks what these shifts mean for producers, studios, creators, funders and IP owners working outside the traditional franchise machine.

Welcome to an evening where silos dissolve, ideas expand, and new collaborations begin.

Taking place just after Develop:Brighton, this London networking night is designed to continue the conversation in a more relaxed, cross-industry setting, bringing together creators, studios, producers, funders and decision-makers across storytelling industries.

**Panel: The New Economics of IP

We kick off the evening with a sharp, practical conversation on how projects are actually being financed today.

From IP adaptation to transmedia strategies, we’ll explore:

Are cross-media projects more fundable, or just more complex?

How are film, TV and games starting to align financially?

What does it really take to build stories as expandable worlds?

How can creators, producers and studios think beyond one format from the start?

**Speakers

Victoria Fäh, IPR.VC
Chris Filip, BFI
Eloise Singer, Producer (The Pirate Queen)
More speakers to be announced soon.

**Then… we mingle properly.**

This is where things get interesting.

Each attendee receives a colour-coded sticker representing their industry, film, TV, games, publishing, music, theatre, art and beyond.

No awkward guessing.
No “so what do you do?” loops.

Just:

Find your opposites.
Meet outside your bubble.
Start unexpected conversations.

**Who’s in the room?

Our Helsinki editions have brought together an eclectic mix of:

Filmmakers, producers, directors, screenwriters, composers, music producers, game designers, narrative designers, 3D artists, virtual production professionals, theatre directors, actors, dancers, visual artists, art directors, and people who don’t fit neatly into one box.

The result?

Packed rooms, surprising collaborations, and conversations that don’t usually happen in traditional industry spaces.
