π₯Toronto Founder Walk #4 - Small Group, Better Conversations
βNetworking shouldn't feel like networking.
βMost networking events are designed around meeting more people.
βWe're experimenting with the opposite.
βA small group. A walk. A few thoughtful prompts. Enough time to actually talk to the people you meet.
βAfter running the first few Toronto Founder Walks, one thing surprised us:
βSmaller groups may actually create better conversations.
βPeople who joined our last walk told us the experience felt more casual, more personal and easier to remember than being in a room with 50-100 strangers.
βOne attendee described it as feeling almost like βa bunch of friends hanging out.β
βAnother told us the smaller format creates a deeper, more authentic connection.
βThat's exactly what we're trying to build.
βWhat happens?
βWe bring together a small mix of founders, entrepreneurs, professionals, creators and people building something interesting.
βNo speeches.
βNo speed networking.
βNo 30-second pitches.
βNo trying to collect as many LinkedIn contacts as possible.
βWe start with a few introductions, then walk in smaller conversations and rotate naturally along the way.
βThere are also a few conversation prompts during the walk so you don't spend the whole event asking:
ββSo... what do you do?β
βSome conversations will be about business.
βOthers might be about AI, travel, music, careers, something someone is building-or something completely unexpected.
βThat's part of the point.
βSunday schedule
β4:45 PM - Arrival / check-in
Come anytime between 4:45-5:00 so you're settled before introductions.
β5:00 PM - Introductions + opening prompt
β5:15 PM - We start walking
βAround 6:15 PM - Official walk ends
βSome of us may grab something to eat or drink afterward. You're welcome to join.
βRunning late?
βDon't abandon the event just because you're 10 or 15 minutes behind.
βApproved attendees can join the event WhatsApp group, where we'll share live location updates once the walk begins, so you can catch up with us.
βWho is this for?
βEntrepreneurs.
Founders.
Business owners.
Professionals.
Creators.
People exploring something new.
βYou don't need an impressive title.
βYou do need to be curious about other people.
βSmall by design
βWe review registrations because the mix of people matters.
βGive us enough information to understand who you are, what you're working on and what you'd enjoy talking about.
βCome curious. Be useful. No hard selling.
βA few things that make these walks work
βDon't hard sell.
Nobody wants to discover halfway through a walk that they've accidentally entered someone's sales funnel.
βTalk to someone you don't know.
If you already know a few people, help bring someone new into the conversation.
βIf you register, show up.
We're intentionally keeping these walks small.
βBe curious. Be useful.
Good conversations go both ways.
βSmall by design
βWe're keeping the first walks to around 10β12 people.
βThat's enough variety to meet someone unexpected, but small enough that you can actually talk.
βIf this one fills up, join the waitlist. We're planning to make these a regular Sunday thing.
βπ¦ Weather
βA little rain won't necessarily stop us.
βIf the weather looks genuinely miserable or unsafe, we'll update everyone through Luma and the TES Social WhatsApp community.
