Pile Burning Union Valley
In spring 2025 a large thinning project was completed to improve safety on an alternate emergency evacuation route for Union Valley. The last step in the process is burning several hundred small slash piles on the hillside, and we could use help!
Come learn about best practices for hand pile construction and ignition.
The Cascadia PBA is helping to coordinate additional resources and volunteers to help with burning the piles. Come out and meet people from the community, learn from local fire professionals and enjoy the crackle and heat of fire.
Things to bring:
Natural fiber clothing, outdoor workboots, leather work gloves, eye protection, N95 mask (smoke).
Food will be provided but will likely need to be roasted over the glowing coals. Bring your own water and snacks.
