Recital Class June 14, 12pm EST
Welcome to the Sor Hands Recital Class!
This is a place where classical guitarists may perform their repertoire for a live engaged audience (made of me and all of the participants), to gain performance experience, and to be a part of a respectful classical music-loving community. This is not a "master class" per se, so the length of time allotted to feedback will be at my discretion and could range from none at all, to several minutes per player.
Rules and guidelines:
Be in the waiting room at or slightly before the meeting time. At said time, I will explain to everyone how class will flow, which will essentially be: I decide the next player, we all mute and listen, when the performance is over only I will unmute to give feedback (after which I may hand the mic to anyone who wants to chime in) then I’ll decide the next performer.
One piece per participant. (If your piece is exceptionally short or long then just send me a message. but as a rule of thumb, two pieces are fine as long as they are in a set and don't exceed five or six minutes, and if you're working on the 15 minute D minor Chaconne for your DMA recital then that's fine too. Just give me a heads up first.)
Upon joining, post your piece and composer in the zoom chat. (If you need to go first or last for whatever reason post that as well)
Be familiar with Zoom, have the app downloaded and logged into already, join with a desktop or laptop only, and work out how to use the "Original sound for musicians" setting. You can do this by creating your own meeting on Zoom, record the meeting and set it to save to your computer. Then mess with the mentioned audio setting. Play your guitar and listen back to the recorded meeting to make sure the sound is coming through.
-If you do all of this and you're still unable to hear your guitar clearly, you might need to tweak the audio settings of your actual computer-
-Bonus points for those who keep their camera on and stay the entire meeting. Of course that is up to you but remember that we’re all here to support each other. I expect the class to run about two hours in total-
