About Event

What happens when AI stops being just a chatbot and starts becoming a true teaching partner? From building custom classroom apps without coding to creating lesson-specific bots that grow smarter over time, explore how educators are transforming AI from a generic tool into personalized teaching assistants that understand their unique classroom needs. Join us for an unconference-style exploration of practical AI solutions that are already changing how teachers create, collaborate, and connect with their students.

More About the Sharings

Evan Liao (Beginning Teacher (Music), Woodgrove Secondary School) will share on "From Prompt to Platform: Building Real-Time Classroom Apps with HongDouSG"

Educators often have brilliant ideas for interactive, multiplayer classroom tools, but are held back by the complexities of coding, backend databases, and server deployment. Evan will introduce HongDou (红豆), an AI-powered, no-code app creator built specifically for teachers. He'll demonstrate how educators can generate customized interactive tools, formal quizzes, and lesson slides, whilst showcasing its unique features for seamlessly integrating real-time databases for live classroom engagement. Most importantly, he'll show how apps can be instantly deployed to platforms like Netlify or Google Sites without writing a single line of code.(Technical Level: 100)

Alexis Tung (Level Head of ICT, Teck Ghee Primary School) will share on "Lesson Specific Conversations: AI Bots That Grow With Your Teaching"

Discover three powerful bots that can transform teaching and learning in Primary Science and Primary Mathematics. Alexis will demonstrate two bots designed to help teachers create lesson materials more efficiently and effectively, sharing resources that have already been created and tested in real classrooms. The third bot has even greater potential: by drawing on lesson materials, it can support teaching and learning not just immediately, but over time as well. This becomes especially powerful when used through a shared school account, enabling collaboration and building lasting value for teachers across the school. (Technical Level: 100)

Josh Wong (Head of Department for Student Management, Cantonment Primary School) and Jason Tan (Teacher of Science and Mathematics, Cantonment Primary School) will share on "Building Confidence Through Practice: AI Role-Play for Managing Challenging Student Behaviours"

At Cantonment Primary School, Josh and his colleagues addressed challenges with defiant behaviours and peer conflicts. Student leaders struggled with resistance from peers, whilst teachers needed better de-escalation strategies. Their solution created two AI role-play systems providing safe environments for skill development. One bot helps student leaders practice handling resistance and verbal conflicts, whilst another allows teachers to experience defiant behaviour and practice de-escalation techniques. Both systems enable users to practice difficult conversations safely, then reflect on how word choice affects outcomes, fostering more effective communication strategies. (Technical Level: 100)

Chan Kuang Wen (Head of Department of Educational Technology, Raffles Institution) will share on "Voice-Based AI Coaching: Scaling One-to-One Learning Through Conversation"

In the two-sigma problem in education, we understand that one-to-one coaching provides the largest improvement in student achievement. This is intuitive, yet it has traditionally been unscalable. However, with artificial intelligence, we can now begin to scale this process. Between having no practice and practicing with a live human lies a valuable space for chatbots that allow users to slow down, reflect on their conversations, and try different strategies. Kuang Wen will present two projects that Raffles Institution is working on that utilise voice interaction: a coaching tool that helps teachers become better coaches, and a coaching tool designed to help students practise for their Chinese Oral examinations. These tools bring the experience closer to an authentic interaction, preparing teachers and students for real-world situations. (Technical Level: 100)
