Clear-Signing & Wallet Security @ DEVCON

​The ERC-8009 team is hosting an event dedicated to clear signing and ways to achieve it.

​The existing and experimental solutions will be demonstrated using Ledger and Trezor devices.

​Clear signing is a solution to Blind Signing, which is the single biggest security threat currently facing everyday Web3 users and protocol teams. It occurs when a hardware wallet cannot decode the transaction and present it in human language, so the end user approving the wallet transaction is left guessing whether the transaction is exactly what they intend to send. In many cases, unsuspecting users simply approve such transactions, accepting the risk.

​Even though hardware wallets are commonly thought of as the ultimate security solution, they are still prone to attacks involving “blind signing”. For example, that’s exactly what happened to Bybit when the Safe code was modified and the hardware wallet couldn’t provide a human-language explanation of the transaction (the famous $1.5B hack).

​Join us during DEVCON Mumbai 2026 for a practical session exploring Clear-Signing solutions, amongst which ERC-8009 (Proxy Clear Signing) will be presented, with demos on real hardware devices.
