Meetup - From Researcher to Entrepreneur
We’d love to invite you to an informal evening meetup for people interested in FABRIC and in taking first concrete steps toward entrepreneurship from research, academia, or deep expertise.
On Monday 19 May, we’re coming together in The Hague, from 19:00–21:00, for a first community gathering and a preliminary masterclass: From Researcher to Entrepreneur
This masterclass is for (former) researchers, students, and professionals who are exploring what it would mean to turn their work, insights, or ideas into a venture. Or who are simply curious about what the next step could look like.
Rather than theory, the focus will be on practical follow‑up steps, including:
An overview of funding options you could realistically explore, such as NWO Take‑off and locally available university funding
What to expect from the FABRIC programme once it formally starts
Sharing tips, tricks, and lessons learned among peers in the room who are at similar stages
The evening is designed to help you leave with a clearer sense of your options, your next moves, and to start building connections with others on a similar path.
This meetup also marks the informal launch of FABRIC – The Hague Global Incubator. While FABRIC will officially start in September 2026, we wanted to come together earlier to meet, learn, and start shaping the community.
What is FABRIC?
FABRIC is a research‑driven, impact‑first incubator for founders working on systemic challenges. It is designed especially for people emerging from or closely connected to academic and research environments, including students, PhDs, recent graduates, and professionals leveraging university knowledge and infrastructure.
FABRIC supports founders in translating research and deep expertise into viable real‑world ventures, with a strong focus on non‑extractive support, impact integrity, and long‑term systems change. With The Hague as its home, FABRIC connects Dutch academic strength with global policy, NGO, and impact ecosystems.
If you’re exploring an idea - even at a very early stage - or simply want to understand what pathways exist, you are very warmly invited.
FABRIC is a collaboration of TU Delft and We Are Changemakers.
We hope to see you on 19 May!
