Tech Literacy/Professional Development
Join us in helping bridge the digital divide through a hands-on technology and career readiness workshop for Los Angeles shelter residents. Volunteers will guide participants through essential tech literacy skills — from using smartphones and Chromebooks to accessing telehealth services, job applications, and online ID storage safely and confidently.
Residents will rotate through practice stations where they’ll learn how to set up an email account, complete online applications, and strengthen their digital communication skills. Additional stations will focus on resume building, professional email writing, and interview preparation, giving participants the confidence to take their next career step.
Volunteers will also support a goal-setting station, where residents create small, achievable milestones that can later be reviewed by their case managers to track progress toward employment or personal growth.
Each participant will receive practical incentives such as charging cords, stylus pens, or Chromebooks to continue practicing their digital skills, along with folders and printed resume templates to support their job search.
We’re seeking volunteers with strong tech literacy or professional development experience who are excited to make digital empowerment accessible to everyone.
Volunteers are required to attend a 30-minute pre-meeting at 9:30 AM on Sunday, December 7th, to review the day’s materials and group assignments
