About Event

Set in Antarctica, the film opens with its director making it clear that this is not a conventional nature documentary about “cute penguins.” Instead, the camera turns toward McMurdo Station, the largest U.S. research station in Antarctica, and the people who have chosen to live and work at the edge of the world: scientists, divers, mechanics, philosophers, and others. Drawn to this polar landscape for different reasons, they find themselves reflecting on humanity’s relationship with nature, life, and existence in one of the most extreme environments on Earth.

Nominated for the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature, the film continues the director’s fascination with extreme environments and the human spirit. In the film, Antarctica is not merely a frozen continent, but a unique site for observing human curiosity, obsession, and states of being. Rather than a conventional nature documentary, it is a philosophical journey into the unknown, exploration, and life itself.

Runtime: 99 minutes
Language: English with Chinese subtitles
