Geek-Out Session: An Improv Night for Designers
Hi Vancouver Designers, let's try something different this time!:
Putting yourself out there is hard. Speaking up in a room, sharing your work, walking up to a stranger at an event: it can feel like setting yourself up to be judged.
So this time we're going to practice the opposite, and have fun doing it.
We're borrowing from improv. The whole point of improv is learning to show up, say yes, and roll with whatever happens without the fear of getting it wrong. It's the best armour there is against the fear of rejection, and it turns out it's also the secret to actually connecting with people.
By the end you'll have done the scary thing, survived it, and probably had a great conversation in the process. That's the real skill we want you to walk away with.
How to Prepare?
Bring one thing you geek out about and want to teach the rest of us.
Our Facilitator:
Hannah Flostrand is a career, immigration, and networking coach who works with professionals to help them build confidence, find their footing, and make real connections.
She thinks improv is a superpower and tries to do something scary/exciting at least once a week (and get others to do the same!)
Agenda:
5:30 - 5:50pm Welcome & Warmup
5:50 - 7:10pm Teach Us Something New
7:10 - 7:30pm Wrap-up & Mingling
We're keeping this one small and personal: Grab your spot early! early. Questions? Message Heiko on LinkedIn or email [email protected].
