Comedy Writing: A Writers Meet-Up
What makes something funny? And how can humor help us better understand ourselves, our relationships, and the absurdity of everyday life?
Join Lit Club NYC and Summit Books for an interactive writing gathering inspired by Dangerland! by Erin Singer. Designed for writers, aspiring writers, and the creatively curious, this evening will explore humor as both a craft and a way of seeing the world.
Through guided writing exercises, small-group workshops, and playful prompts inspired by the text, we'll experiment with voice, perspective, observation, and comedic storytelling. The focus is on generating ideas, trying new things, and having fun—not producing anything polished.
The evening will conclude with an optional open mic and live reading opportunity for those interested in sharing their work, followed by time to connect with fellow writers.
No prior writing or publishing experience required. Sharing is always optional. Come to write, laugh, meet other creative people, and leave with new ideas, new connections, and perhaps a few new pages.
🎟️ Ticket includes light bites, guided writing exercises, small-group workshops, community networking, and access to the optional reading
