About Event

Learn about all the great things happening in Norwalk and how you can get more involved!

This month we feature Neisha Oliver, a master gardener, master composter, and regenerative grower consultant. She recently hosted a workshop on composting and is part of Norwalk's Sustainability Task Force team focused on waste reduction. We'll be hearing more from that group in a future meeting.

Neisha volunteers at Ponus Ridge and Brien McMahon High School, where she's spent the last few years teaching students how to grow their own vegetables and berries. In addition to that, she serves as the program and education coordinator for the Oak Hills Nature Center committee. They are currently developing several community education projects, including a food forest, a compost demonstration site, and an alternative lawn.

She is also in her second year as the volunteer coordinator for the Earth Day steering committee and is working to coordinate a community garden at Fodor Farm to provide fresh produce for local food pantries.

On a broader scale, she is working at the state level to help establish a Connecticut chapter of the US Composting Council.
