About Event

Carbon dioxide removal (CDR) is needed alongside rapid and deep emissions reductions to achieve the Paris Agreement temperature goal. While CDR activity is growing, significant gaps remain between current progress and global needs.

This session will connect the latest evidence from the State of CDR 3rd Edition and explore how international cooperation can help close these gaps. Speakers will highlight collaborative initiatives and discuss how countries are working together to advance research, policy, and governance.

Speakers:

  • Injy Johnstone (Moderator), Head of Partnerships, The State of CDR and Senior Research Fellow at the Max Planck Institute

  • Niklas Hagelberg – Senior Programme Co-ordinator Climate Action at UN Environment Programme

  • Oliver Geden – Executive Team, The State of CDR and Head, SWP Research Cluster Climate and Energy Policy & Vice-Chair, IPCC Working Group III

  • Carley Reynolds – Research Unit, The State of CDR and Policy Analyst at Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK)

The session will conclude by identifying opportunities to strengthen international cooperation and accelerate the responsible scale-up of CDR.

Please note that due to limited capacity attendance will be on a first-come, first-served basis. We encourage you to arrive early to secure your place.
