Peter Wennink at the University of Amsterdam | Executive Session

​Peter Wennink, former CEO of ASML, joins Roel Beetsma (Dean, Faculty of Economics and Business), Christa Boer (Dean, Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences), and Anniek de Ruijter (Rector Magnificus) for an hour on what the Netherlands' productivity and talent challenge means for a university in practice.

​Wennink's report, "The Road to Future Prosperity", argues that the constraint on Dutch prosperity is execution rather than ideas. It names two challenges: 1) building talent, the engineers and researchers who develop the technology, and 2) applying it, the far larger group who have to use it, redesign organisations around it and turn it into economic value. This session is about the second. If the constraint is increasingly adoption rather than invention, what does that ask of a university? Wennink would like to put that question to the university's representatives directly and hear where they stand.

​The session is invite-only and the audience is small, limited to the people shaping the university ecosystem most closely: directors of education, examination boards and programme committees, policy advisors and teaching and learning staff, student representatives, and leaders from Amsterdam's AI research ecosystem. Filip Szturo, co-founder of AISO, moderates. Please arrive between 17:00 and 17:15.

​The executive session opens the evening. A reception follows at 18:30, and at 19:30 the public panel begins in lecture hall REC A0.01, "The role of education in a time of rapid AI change", with Wennink, university representatives and students.
