Ten Years of Plant SynBio: iGEM Trends, AI, and New Genomic Techniques Policy (with Adithyo Wicksono)
Over the past decade, plant synthetic biology has undergone a rapid transformation. This talk provides a comprehensive, data-driven retrospective on ten years of innovation at the intersection of computational design, open-source data, and international policy.
Drawing from his experience across bioinformatics pipelines and the iGEM Technology Committee, Adhityo Wicaksono will analyse how plant chassis choices, metabolic engineering strategies, and application trends have evolved over time. Key topics include:
Decade in Review: Analysing ten years of iGEM trends, chassis selection, and application shifts in plant synbio.
Data-Driven Design: Leveraging multi-omics databases, public data reuse, and bioinformatics pipelines to accelerate computational plant engineering.
The Regulatory Horizon: Examining how emerging New Genomic Techniques (NGTs) and evolving policy frameworks (such as EU regulations) will impact translational biotech and global research collaborations.
