About Event

If you care about affordability, fairness, innovation, the climate, the future, your kids, your rights, your safety, privacy, education, health care, having music or movies without censorship, having street festivals in your town, or freedom to have any music festival, or most other things ... then you should care about democracy.

Democracy is the way we have a say in our collective future, and the present, and even though it's not perfect, it's far from perfect, it's also not totally gone, yet.

Join us for DemocracyWeek.net in LA, October 12-18, 2026 to explore ways to protect and revitalize our democracy, explore positive uses of tech & AI for democracy, while mitigating risks in key areas.

Democracy Week is a decentralized community created event

Democracy Week is here to help bring more visibility to your event, your efforts, your organization, and the issues you care about. And we want to support you best we can. 🙏🙌

We invite you to join us as a partner, event organizer, volunteer, or attendee. There's a participation form when you register here, or on the website.

Let's get creative, let's get active, let's have fun, and let's GSD - get stuff done.

SHARE THE LOVE! 💛 Follow us and invite others to help build the cross-partisan pro-democracy movement

Follow lu.ma/democracy to find cross-partisan events across the country, and add your own events there as well!

Want to check out what's happening in SF Democracy Week? Feel free to join the coming SF planning call just before this one! And if you know people in SF, please invite them to join there!

Our principles, and how we invite you to show up

This is a cross-partisan event, and people from all parties, or no parties, are welcomed.

We invite everyone to join in kindness, with an open mind, and open heart, and to see how we can invite more engagement, joy, and action in this cross-partisan unifying pro-democracy movement.

~

All are welcome to organize an event during Democracy Week, including nonpartisan and partisan organizations, as long as:

  1. The event doesn't limit participation based on affiliation with a particular party or organization; and

  2. The event includes opportunities for dialogue for everyone to be heard, either through a public discussion period or through breakouts, and that time and space allocation cannot be dependent on affiliation with your party or organization.

(And are relevant, legal, not hateful, etc.)

~

We're also proud to be following the THE BRAVER ANGELS WAY at this event and in our community engagement work, and we invite all other participating organizations to as well:

- We state our views freely and fully, without fear.
- We treat people who disagree with us with honesty, dignity and respect.
- We welcome opportunities to engage those with whom we disagree.
- We believe all of us have blind spots and none of us are not worth talking to.
- We seek to disagree accurately, avoiding exaggeration and stereotypes.
- We look for common ground where it exists and, if possible, find ways to work together.
- We believe that, in disagreements, both sides share and learn.
- In Braver Angels, neither side is teaching the other or giving feedback on how to think or say things differently.
