Shop Floor
For LA Design Week, Patrick Cain opens his shop floor to a group of artists, designers, and makers working across sculpture, furniture, lighting, and floral design. United by a material-driven approach and a willingness to get their hands dirty, the group brings together distinct practices working in concrete, wood, steel, hardware, and organic material. The result is a presentation that moves between the raw and the refined, the monolithic and the playful.
@jessienelsonstudios // Jessie Nelson is a furniture maker and designer. His pieces live at the intersection of brutalist material contrast and Art Deco refinement.
@nick.floral // Nick Beckman's floral arrangements operate as a form of still-life sculpture—wild, asymmetrical, theatrical, and unruly. For the showcase, he will present two 10-foot arrangements.
@alpernakri // Alper Nakri's work holds a tension between the raw and the engineered, pairing unaltered wood with precision steel and salvaged hardware across furniture and lighting.
@josephsalerno_ // Joseph Salerno's sculptural work is brutalist and minimalist: reductive, gestural, and precarious by design. Joseph is presenting his newest series "Death Rattle" alongside highlights of prior work.
@terrycalcetin // Rogelio Morales works in a distinctly different register, drawing closer to folk art and outsider sculpture. He will present one of his large-scale cast concrete sock puppets alongside several other works.
@objectsforobjects // Leonard Bessemer, of Objects for Objects, presents postmodern object design and kitsch-pop furniture, including previously unseen work.
@patrickcaindesigns // Patrick Cain's dense, monolithic, geometric forms are modern and sleek. His concrete furniture, and tabletop vessels will be on full display.
