How to Approach Intellectual Property - Workshop + Panel · Nucleate x CLIC x JUNI
Nucleate, the BIH Clinical Incubator (CLIC) and JUNI are teaming up for an afternoon + evening on how to approach intellectual property💡
Turning academic research into a startup almost always starts with IP. Who actually owns your invention? How do you license it from your university or hospital, and on what terms? And how do you make sure you're free to operate before you build a company around it?
🧠 In the afternoon, patent attorney Dr. Markus Zoller leads a workshop for founders (or aspiring founders) that tackles IP Strategy for Company Formation: Ownership, Licensing and Freedom-to-Operate.
🌆 In the evening, we'll have a brief intro to The Berlin Model: a new, standardized framework for IP transfer in academic spinouts (developed by JUNI). Then a panel discussion brings together founder, public-sector, legal and investor perspectives on IP transfer: what makes a deal work for founders, institutions and investors alike, and how IP transfer in Germany is changing.
